We really enjoyed that wonderful museum with it’s heritage buildings. It is a large, comprehensive museum of all aspects of railway history and development in Queensland. It has done great hands on exhibits and play activities for children.

Didn't manage to join the guided tour as we didn't wear protective shoes.

It's tidy, and clean. Has history, science fun facts, a huge moving train model, and a kids playground. Got potential to be a great museum. But I think it needs a renovation to bring the overall look of the building up to date. So far it looks like a big old train shed.

A great museum. Provides a vast library full of information for those willing to study the railways. The old 1200 class EMD is my favourite part as it is partially opened up so you can see the engine. Entrance and Gift shop is a bit pricey, however it is an awesome place.

The second area looks undone. Potentially looks like a good area to display mini train models.

How can you call this place a "Rail Museum" anymore?

Everything about wildlife is forced down your throat in the main museum. For example, I was admiring an 152 year old locomotive, and right next to the main exhibit was a small piece of paper with a stock image of a rhino with animal tracks: stating "these are my footprints!"

I left the museum, mightily disappointed, and gobsmacked to know that most of the locomotive exhibits were shut away at the back.

The Queensland Museum needs to get their heads out of their fat, money grabbing arses, and ACTUALLY MAKE THE INFORMATION THAT THEY PUT UP RELEVANT TO THE LOCATION!

As a Rail Enthusiast, I was mightily disappointed at the current state of the museum itself. As we arrived at the museum, the first thing that stood out to me was the use of useless information and exhibits. There was one steam locomotive with authentic rolling stock, however that was only 15% of the exhibits at the front entrance, because the rest of the exhibits were about butterflies. Butterflies... at a railway museum.

It's a good day out. With a fair bit to see and do. My kids enjoy themselves. It was good to see some old school trains.

The word "Rail Museum" has been dumbed down and filtered to an irrelevant level at Ipswich dramatically.
